Translational Genomics

At QGP, we seek to utilize whole genome sequencing with other omics data to facilitate the translation of basic science research discoveries into clinical precision medicine practices more quickly and efficiently.

Returning Genomic Information

QGP started a project on reporting wellness and lifestyle traits based on analyzing whole genome sequencing data of QBB participants. Wellness and lifestyle reports include 29 different traits related to body weight, response to diet and eating behavior, food reactions, exercise, and metabolic health factors.

Pharmacogenomics

Pharmacogenomics (PGx) uses an individual’s genetic information to identify the right drug at the right dose at the right time. PGx information can maximize the therapeutic efficacy of the medications and prevent adverse drug reactions by identifying how specific genetic variations might affect individual responses to medications.

Clinical Alliance

The team is working closely with different clinical units at governmental hospitals and health centers to facilitate and co-ordinate clinical collaborative studies to ensure the achievement of quality research outcomes and integrate precision medicine into the healthcare system in Qatar.

QChip

Qatar Genome and Qatar Biobank partnered with the Department of Genetic Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar , the Diagnostic Genomic Division at Hamad Medical Corporation as well as the Sidra research team at Sidra Medicine to facilitate the development of the first Qatari gene chip, known as the ‘Q-Chip’.
